November 30th, 2015. I tried fourth time to work at Amazon. I have no idea, why I can't do it. Other great employees walk 12+ miles including bending, climbing, pushing and much more, they survive with total of three breaks in ten hours shift, lunch 30 minutes and then two 10 minutes breaks. By the way, they call it 15 minutes breaks but then they also tell you that these 15 minutes are provided to you for the walking out and coming back to the the building, actually 15 minutes ifs from last pick to first pick. I was picker.
Maybe I am struggling to adapt New trend of tough jobs of the new era.
It's a great company indeed but they really should consider providing bikes or go carts, pedal or motorized to their employees. Okay.......
It's indoor facility but come on its to huge. Brisk walking while pushing, bending and climbing for ten hours is too much. At least a go cart will help employees a bit and also will enhance the speed as you would be able to travel miles with much ease. But unfortunately, they do not seem to spend on transportation within warehouse, instead they will spend millions on robots in future if possibly an invention comes out.
I felt so tired in the end of the shift that the next day looks horror to do again. At times while picking, I felt that I look the only ediot who is walking alone along the isles.
Then, if you feel tired and want to slow down, a manager approaches you with a set of documents in the clip board, he will ask you that your speed has decreased, what is the reason.
In peak hours they offer a lot of incentives for the top performers, great.
That job made me look like not a dependable employee as I quit every time I try to do it. Especially, when you see other employees weeping, crying and depressed leaving the building every now and then. This job is tough.
In order to survive, I needed a special mind set. Unfortunately, I couldn't align myself to it as I have done bachelor's degree and now this job that needs extreme physical exertion and not at all a mental challenge, it is so boring.
Job function itself is little too easy, it takes a few hours to understand different items and what to see in the rf scanner and how to pick. You perfect it in no time, it's easier than kindred garden assignment. That's another mental depression, there is nothing to learn. Every day, every hour and every minute is same.
I wish they could allow me to bring my own bicycle to perform that brisk walking and pushing easily.
If you get full benefits, is it worth to get disabled for it. I would not. There should be better jobs around.
